Bullets whizzing overhead, outlaws and gangs everywhere, public safety and civility in jeopardy and the uncertainty of the future is at its highest. The description I made above is of a time in Americas past when it was a young volatile place, full of hope and promise but also, an element of lawlessness and separation. It doesn’t sound too far off from what America feels like today, in the Wild West you had outlaws running around with guns terrorizing towns and robbing banks, and at present we have groups that are hell bent on causing terror in our cities using warped ideologies, to justify mass murders on innocent civilians, citing everything from pro-life to racist views.
The gun violence problem in the United States is out of control, and according to gunviolencearchive.org 48,233, incidents and 12,202 deaths related to guns in 2015, and that’s just as of this writing, -the year hasn’t ended yet-, and it doesn’t count the 14 people killed and 17 wounded today in San Bernardino California. In America we have street gangs, domestic terrorist, rouge Police, and others causing our country to look a lot like the lawless West of the past, and it doesn’t appear that the country has a plan of action to do anything about it.
With so-many deaths resulting from gun violence, you would think our political leaders would be lock in step with each-other on a comprehensive plan to at least slow down the rate of deaths by gun incidents. But no! They continue to claim that guns aren’t the problem, many on the Republican side (such as Rick Santorum) claim that arming more people with guns is the solution, but my question to those clowns is this, if the bad guys know that citizens are arming themselves with guns, won’t they just get bigger guns and find more lethal was to kill people.
I don’t understand why people who supposed be leaders and, protect and serve the people of the United States would make such a ridiculous statement, so it became clear to me, that the reason that the Republicans don’t want background checks that take mental illness into account, is because they themselves wouldn’t be able purchase a gun, for reasons of possible insanity, because the numbers speak for themselves. There is something fundamentally wrong with 355 mass shootings to date in the United States, and the majority of them committed by American citizens, with guns they purchased legally. The gun manufacturers and the NRA love the Republican position on this issue, because it boost gun sales and memberships, no matter what state of mind is on the purchasing end of those weapons.
